Why In The Hell Do You FBA?

As we come to the end of another great year, I can’t help but reflect on some of those questions that we don’t really like to talk about each day. I have found that if you are able to take an hour or so and answer these tough questions (or maybe more than an hour), you will find that your life is much better off. So I have to ask:

Why In The Hell Do You FBA?

Sit there and honestly think about it for a second.

Don’t give me the cop out answer that you tell people that you just meet:

“I sell online to make additional income….”

No shit sherlock. No one starts a business with the intention of losing money.

What is really driving you to take the time you could be spending watching Hallmark movies (yes – that is what I am sitting here listening to as I write this post – I can’t bring myself to not yell rude comments, so I had to start writing)?

So I’ll ask it again.

Why In The Hell Do You FBA?

I FBA because I enjoy the challenge of searching for diamonds in the rough. I want to make enough money that I can live a comfortable life where I don’t have to worry about that extra $3 or $4. I FBA to make sure I can support my family no matter what and so I can strategically save to for future. I FBA because it is the one thing I can do to challenge me mentally and push my knowledge to the next level. I FBA because it allows me to bond with my dad and brother. I FBA because I have knack for finding deals. I FBA because it gives me extra money to donate to charity or causes I support or believe in.

And I can summarize it all into one sentence.

I FBA so I can work at the job I love and not worry about my salary.

It really comes down to that. That is why I do what I do.

I feel like I’m having a session with a shrink right now (nothing against that at all, but most people don’t do that via a blog post).

That’s it. I FBA because it makes me happy.

Do I enjoy the packing, the stickers, or the returns? Hell no. Every rose has its thorns.

I can honestly say that FBA has restored my faith in humanity. I can still look back at all of the charities that we have supported over the last year and it is absolutely incredible. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime and I couldn’t ask for a better group of people.

Here’s the deal.

In order to be happy in life, you have to figure out what in the hell makes you happy. I know that love and friendship are what make me happy. I don’t need the newest car or boat to make me happy. I need quality time with those that I love (as I sit on the couch with my beautiful wife right now). I need to experience life to its fullest and live each day with no regrets.

What if you woke up tomorrow and you were fired from your job? What would you do? How would you handle yourself? What if what was secure is actually more volatile than you ever thought?

Why do we always go back to what we assume is secure? Since when is the comfortable our safe spot?

I have a feeling that John wasn’t comfortable writing this post. Mike could not have been comfortable bluffing for an income. I will admit that I was not comfortable leaving my higher paying job to follow my heart.

The unknown is our ultimate fear.

So I’ll leave you with this (and I expect a comment with your answer below):

I’ve only discovered FBA last week, yes I know that might be hard to believe. I’m now still trying to learn as much as I can before going into buying product to sell. Eventually I want to live in Thailand with my Thai wife & I need an income stream so I hope FBA will become part of that income stream
