When They Tell You They Can’t, Prove Them Wrong

Special Thursday entry from me.  I’ll be back tomorrow with my actual blog.  That said, I came across this video and it speaks to a situation that gets asked about fairly frequently in the Facebook Group: What do you do when the people around you (acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family) tell you that you can’t?

I like to take a moderate tone and position with these questions.  I’m a big fan of listening to our critics and making sure that we truly and honestly hear their concerns and have thought them through.  I’m a fan of recognizing that if someone cares about you, they’re probably telling you these things because they honestly want to help.

That said, there are at least two reasons why it is hard for me to relate to these questions:

  1. The people in my life have generally been supportive.
  2. In the times where there wasn’t a lot of support (come on! I was a professional poker player and now I spend all of my time selling items at ridiculous prices and hanging out on Facebook), I always used it as motivation.  Criticism can be crippling, but it can also be the very thing that spurs you on to success.

In the spirit of that second point, I offer this 7 minute video:

Best of luck to you and I’ll see you all back here tomorrow.
