Amazon Can’t Count

If you have shipped items into an Amazon fulfillment center, you have asked yourself this question: “Who in the world is counting the items I send in?”

It is a pretty common occurrence that Amazon starts processing your shipment and they either can’t seem to find your items or they over count an item (which still baffles me – How can I send in more than I have?). If this happens to you, you will want to make sure to file a reconcile request so that you can be reimbursed for our items. If you aren’t 100% sure how to do that, I have laid out the steps below.

Step 1: Get a drink. I always suggest handling all things with Amazon with a bit of refreshment on hand.

Step 2: Login into Seller Central. You should get to the home page (see below):

Step 3: Go to the “Inventory” tab at the top and then click “Manage FBA Shipments.”

Step 4: Find the shipment where Amazon miscounted your items. A few examples are shown below. You will want to click on “Track Shipment” on the shipments that have the discrepancies.

Step 5: You should now be on this screen. You will want to click on the button that says “Reconcile.”

Step 6: Look at the items that Amazon has lost and select: “Missing” menu (which can be found where the purple box is located). Do this for all of the missing items and then click “Preview Request” at the bottom of the page. It will open a pop up and you need to click “Submit”

Step 7: Wait. Amazon will be sending you some emails and letting you know if they found the item or if they are going to reimburse you for the item. It will look something like this:

It’s really that simple! You would be amazed at the amount of money that you can recover from doing this with all of your shipments.
